Workation at Sakleshpur
Last week, I went on a workation trip to Sakleshpur and Chikmagalur with my friend for a week. We started on 15th July (Saturday) around 6.15 in the morning from Seegehalli. We reached the Nelamangala toll gate around 7.30 am.
We stopped at Kicchana Halli Mane in Kunigal at 8.30 for breakfast. We were already hungry by then and had some amazing idlies, vada, and neer dosa.
After breakfast at 9.45, we proceeded to Shettihalli Church. We reached around 11.45 am and spent around 30 minutes there enjoying the weather, the place, and clicking some pics. The last time I was at Shettihalli Church in 2015, it was very quiet. This time it was crowded, and many people were there to take videos for their social media (Yes! I was also taking videos for reels :-P).
We finally reached our stay for the next 3 days, Sinna Dorai Bungalow around 2.15 PM. We took 8 hours to reach the destination with around 1.5 hours break in between.
We booked the stay from their website https://sinnadorai.com/ and paid 50% of the amount to confirm the booking. Our stay at Sinna Dorai Bungalow was one of the best experiences I have ever had.
Food: Starting with the most important criteria to rate the place :-P The food at Sinna Dorai was simple and very tasty. For lunch and dinner, they served rice with dal/sambhar, rasam, vegetable, and some curry along with roti/idiyappam/bhature.
The best part was the dessert. They did not repeat even a single dessert in the 3 days we were there, and each one of them was too good. They also served us Akki roti, Idiyappam and Chole bhature for dinner on the 3 days we stayed there. Even their chutney was fingerlicking good! They served one non-veg dish like Fish fry, Chicken curry and Mutton Biryani for lunch and dinner. Sadly I do not have many pics of the food as I was tempted to eat them as soon as they were on my plate :-|
Along with this, they also served tea/coffee with snacks in the evening.
Staff: The staff at Sinna Dorai were very friendly. They spoke Tamil, and it was time for me to show my skill :-P They used to check with us every day about our plans and if we wanted any help from them. They gave us a complimentary sample tea package when we left the stay.
Facilities: The rooms in the bungalow and the common area were huge. Since we were working on one of the days we were there, we used the common room near the dining area to work and attend meetings.
It was raining all the days we stayed there. So there was hardly anything we could do there other than going on walks in the beautiful tea estate and a couple of jeep trips to a water stream and a viewpoint.
The trip to the water stream was around 8km one way with us going deep into the tea estate.
The view point was 2.5 kms from our stay and looked amazing. But it rained as soon as we reached there. Luckily it cleared in some time and we were able to see this from the view point. The jeep driver was happy to take our pics at that point.
With all the rains, we entertained ourselves by playing some indoor games. Carrom and Cards ! I really do not remember the last time I played carrom. We had to twist the rules of the game to finally end it :-D
Overall, it was an amazing experience for 3 days. It was raining all the time, so be prepared with your rain jackets, and umbrellas when you go there in the monsoon.
